AMC FearFest

4.5/5 - (605 votes)

What is FearFest? In 1997, the AMC network launched Monsterfest, a popular week-long marathon of horror movies and thrillers that aired in late October. On September 26, 2008, AMC announced the launch of a new horror-themed movie marathon for its October schedule called “Fearfest” which replaced Monsterfest.  Fear Fest typically runs from mid-October every year until Halloween (often the day after too) and in recent years has run throughout the entire month of October. In 2023 AMC ran a “Kickoff to FearFest” that began on September 25th.

Why skip Halloween 2. And last year you played all of the Nightmare on Elm streets. Other than that it is ok.

  • Yes, we all have our different tastes. I just saw a friday the 13th 2013 or something 2 nights ago and ai had never seen that one. The Halloween series is my fav and I would love to see Halloween II, which the treat diffferently than the others. Must be a copyright or distribution thing. Also some old comedy horror like :Two on Guillatine
or the wolfman would be OK. A little more variety more e wonderful and much appreciated by the viewers who wait for this every year.

    I love all things Halloween

Could you show all the silent night deadly night movies next year and King Kong and Godzilla movies

  • Why do they show the Halloween movies constantly during Fear Fest. Don’t get me wrong I do enjoy those movies. But I feel like every year they over do it. I don’t mind that its on, but do they need to show it as much as they do?

Sarah m confused..are you saying why are horror movies being played in general or why the same movies? Or the “halloween” series ? But it is halloween that is the point it is having fun and enjoying the whole thing. You say you enjoy them but you are asking? That seems contradicting.

      • No not horror movies in general, I mean the Halloween movies, the ones with Michael Myers. They seem to always play Halloween series, more so than other horror movies.

Sarah.. Although I agree that some things are played far too often I will also state that the Halloween franchise is a main staple of Fear Fest just because if its name. But looking at this lineup has me seriously wondering why no Carrie 1976 but the 2013 remake a blue million times? Why the remake of NOES countless times? When the original is far superior. Texas chainsaw original not seen at all yet 8 legged freaks is? AMC needs to do polling next year as to what is wanted in general because whomever the brainiacs are that come up with this format are in need of firing, it is just obvious they dont get it nor do they really care.

          Reply
    • I agree. On Halloween that’s all they show now plus they show it 50 times when fearfest starts. Love those movies but it’s kind of annoying.

Jen I wouldn’t say you are in the minority because everyone has their likes and dislikes. I personally detest H3 season of the witch but I understand others like it so it’s on for those who like it. PS2 was silly but others love it. This is what I love about Fear Fest, so many different things. That being said in general this year it seems the real big names have been forgotten… carrie 76… more zombies.. Noes 2010 sucks bad but yet it is on too many times.. with that it is pretty clear ppl do not like it.

They have II and III on On Demand for $3.99 each. They possibly might show them on Halloween. They also need to show Children of the corn 1 and 2, The Funhouse, Creepshow 2, Texas Chainsaw, Critters, etc. Their are so many missing that they never show

What is it with Halloween 2 (1981) that never makes it to Fear Fest? I can still remember June of 2019 AMC had it on but yet not when it really counts.. Halloween!! It is imo the best sequel to any movie. Come on let’s get part 2 on!!!

Yes absolute bad flick. Why is the original and the sequels not being shown as often? Why carrie remake which is ok.. but no original? Why bride of chucky and seed of chucky 300 times but no child play 1 or 2? Unless it gets better toward the end of the month this FF is shaping up to be one of the most boring and uninteresting FF to date. Only land of the dead? What about Romero’s day and diary and night? 2020 and still cant get it right… what is funny is that christine and cujo have been on AMC the past month or so yet for halloween nowhere to be seen so far.. brain numbing for sure.

It’s the same movies every year from AMC. Besides the fact they edit the crap out of the movies, they leave out a lot of really good horror flicks. They should do a fan poll each summer to decide which movies to show. Whoever decides what gets shown obviously doesn’t have a lot of experience in the horror genre.

I don’t think I seen scream on there listed. See I don’t see why they can’t put on scream, I know what you did last summer, urban legend
…those type of movies teen horror films in the 90s were the best. I seen that some of the final destination movies were on, but they really need to need to make a whole day or marathon just for the 90s teen movies. Darkness falls was another movie too that I’ve never seen but it seemed like a real deep Halloween type scary movie with the witch n stuff.
