AMC FearFest

4.5/5 - (605 votes)

What is FearFest? In 1997, the AMC network launched Monsterfest, a popular week-long marathon of horror movies and thrillers that aired in late October. On September 26, 2008, AMC announced the launch of a new horror-themed movie marathon for its October schedule called “Fearfest” which replaced Monsterfest.  Fear Fest typically runs from mid-October every year until Halloween (often the day after too) and in recent years has run throughout the entire month of October. In 2023 AMC ran a “Kickoff to FearFest” that began on September 25th.

Omg lol. Anyone watch friday the 13th part 3 and laugh at how they showed shelly with his throat cut but yet totally edited out Rick’s eye popping scene?Lol what is wrong with these guys?

That’s how the director intentionally wanted it because they wanted the eye popping to look 3Dish and make it more shocking towards Jason’s pure brutality and strength, most of the deaths didn’t though.

AMC FearFest Fan… No I am talking about the bad editing job that was done by the network. They show someone with their throat slit yet they totally showed nothing of the eye pop. It is 2020 time for the MPAA and people in general to grow up and realize people want to see these things, otherwise what is the point? Besides the kills are the whole reason behind the movie.

They should show them in order……

      Reply
    • Seems like they could since a lot of the movies are ones they show on Shudder (which is owned by AMC). They’ve been showing Phantasm 1 and 3 on and off a lot.

  • Not a bad selection of films for this year’s edition of Fear Fest but there is several films missing from the list.

    Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974)
    Hellraiser (1987)
    Idle Hands (1999)
    The Ring (2002)
    Saw (2004)
    Hostel (2005)
    Hostel: Part 2 (2007)
    Vacancy (2007)
    Drag Me To Hell (2009)
    The Conjuring (2013)
    Anabelle (2014)
    The Conjuring 2 (2016)
    The Strangers (2018)

AMC also needs to chill out on the Halloween movie series overload. I got nothing but love for the Halloween series but why are they are showing Halloween 1, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 so much !!!

Halloween 2 and 3 have been omitted as well as the two Halloween movies from Rob Zombie

Chill on the Halloween series? Are you nuts? I’m pissed that Halloween(1978) won’t be on in the afternoon or evening on Halloween like it usually is! I understand there are a lot of movies they could play but I think they can chill on Eli Roth. Is he paying them? More Halloween and Halloween II.

There are so many good movies that never get played and with this year being all month long I feel like you guys dropped the ball !! Syfy will get most of my attention as they seem to have a decent lineup of good scary movies like “the strangers” !

I wonder why they never play Halloween 2. They always play the first one and then skip to Halloween 4. I love the second one!

      Reply
      • See I don’t mind when they don’t play Season of the Witch because I don’t really like that one. Lol it doesn’t have Michael in it! They used to play it though, some years ago. But I don’t see the point in skipping the second one. Unless it doesn’t have high ratings? Which I don’t see why it wouldn’t.
