AMC FearFest

4.5/5 - (605 votes)

What is FearFest? In 1997, the AMC network launched Monsterfest, a popular week-long marathon of horror movies and thrillers that aired in late October. On September 26, 2008, AMC announced the launch of a new horror-themed movie marathon for its October schedule called “Fearfest” which replaced Monsterfest.  Fear Fest typically runs from mid-October every year until Halloween (often the day after too) and in recent years has run throughout the entire month of October. In 2023 AMC ran a “Kickoff to FearFest” that began on September 25th.

I wish they would air Halloween 3.
Maybe some more old school horror movies.

  • Please, Please, PLEASE show a wider variety this year. The same 25 movies on a loop is not what the fans crave. More original content from the 80’s and 90’s before CGI ruined everything, would be fantastic! Movies like: Night of the Comet, Halloween II & III (which were left out the past couple of years for some reason), Creepshow, Poltergeist, Hellraiser, etc. FearFest is a staple that horror fans including myself look forward to every year. Let’s take it up a notch in 2021!

  • Wish you would show the older monster movies like Frankenstein Dracula creature of the Black Lagoon the Wolfman. Without those movies we would not have what we have today so please try to put on classic horror movies. Thanks. Love Fear Fest Season

Yes they should show some of these this year, a good mix of old and newer is a good way to satisfy to everyone’s horror needs. Last year around the first week of November I emailed AMC and asked them who decides what goes in the lineup? I got a stupid reply like “It is decided before October”… Lol yea really no sh*t??? I still think the replies are automated bots because the correspondence does not even make sense.

Here we are again folks. My fav time of year. I am just tickled pink and happy they are starting on the first again. Friday the 13th and Hallowen are a staple for Fear Fest. Hopefully this year we get Diary of the Dead and Day of the Dead 1985 for starters. This year the original Carrie needs to play, last year it was not shown. One thing I have watched over the past few years on here is people argue about what is good and what isn’t. People have to remember that everyone’s taste in movies us different, what I may like someone else does not and vice versa.

  • For me Monsterfest 2007 was the best. Idk why but it was somewhat nostalgic. I think it was also the last time AMC aired older classics as well.

    • Please don’t continue to repeat Halloween, the “Chucky” series, and Friday the 13th, over and over. Please play other movies like the Stephen King movies, more than one time. PLEASE! I LOVE FEARFEST! I look forward to it every year.

On Halloween, I want AMC to give me all the Michael Myers and Halloween movies they will for 24 straight hours!!!! Personally, I love the original classic “Halloween”, “Halloween II”, and “Halloween III”, which is frowned upon because Michael Myers wasn’t in it. People should revisit “Halloween III”, because it has great Halloween atmosphere to it.

YES! Halloween 3 has actually become one of my fave Halloween movies! You are correct, it has a great Halloween feel to it! There’s just something about 3 that I LOVE! Can’t quite put my finger on it, but there’s just something about it! So happy it’s now a cult classic, and is getting the love it deserves! Wish they’d show it in theaters again! I’d definitely buy a ticket!
