2024 Halloween Movies on TV October Schedules – AMC FearFest, Freeform 31 Nights of Halloween

AMC FearFest

4.5/5 - (605 votes)

What is FearFest? In 1997, the AMC network launched Monsterfest, a popular week-long marathon of horror movies and thrillers that aired in late October. On September 26, 2008, AMC announced the launch of a new horror-themed movie marathon for its October schedule called “Fearfest” which replaced Monsterfest.  Fear Fest typically runs from mid-October every year until Halloween (often the day after too) and in recent years has run throughout the entire month of October. In 2023 AMC ran a “Kickoff to FearFest” that began on September 25th.

  • Same old crap every year. And on repeat …you need to show the classics from the 30s and 40s, more from the 70, 80s….I love Halloween but y’all overplay the Halloween franchise to the point where I will puke if I see part 4 again and agin and again…you get the point. More variety for the true die hard monster movie lovers

I totally agree with you. They need to add more variety this year. Hopefully, they are working on that and when they update the schedule we will be pleased with the selection they made.

In addition to Halloween I, II & III (which should play for 24 straight hours on Halloween—love John Carpenter, Michael Myers and Halloween III), I’d like to see the original “Salem’s Lot” (1979) (starring James Mason and David Soul), “When A Stranger Calls” (1979), “He Knows You’re Alone” (1980), “The Omen” (1976), “Damien: The Omen II” (1978), “Burnt Offerings” (1976), “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” (1973), “The Exorcist” (1973), “The Amityville Horror” (1979), “Amityville II: The Possession” (1982), “The Shining” (1980), “The Funhouse” (1981), “Madman” (1981), and the original “A Nightmare Elm Street” (1984).

Of course I like the “Friday the 13th” movies which AMC already shows, but the horror movies I mentioned are truly great ones that seem to be painfully neglected. I must say that there is nothing quite like the 70s and 80s when it comes to horror movies—-especially for Halloween.

As far as recent movies go, I think “Sinister” (2012) is a very good horror movie. As far as the older movies go, I really like “Psycho” (1960) and horror movies with Vincent Price, especially “The Pit and the Pendulum” (1961), “Fall of the House of Usher” (1960) and “The Masque of the Red Death” (1964).

  • Geezus, could you make your “printer friendly” list any more UNFRIENDLY????? For the love of all that is unholy why the heck are there GINORMOUS black stars taking up 13 pages of a pdf file that only requires one page for the movie list? Who’s the DA behind that?? Fire them please. Yeah, and get someone who can actually procure a better selection of HORROR movies please. There are more than the same 20 you’ve been showing out there.

Yes good movie choices!! American Werewolf in London will probably be on, it is a good staple of FF.
The original NOTLD never is, BUT can see seen on You tube, it’s there. The remake is on this year tho.
ROTLD for some reason they don’t seem to like, one crappy thing about a movie like this is everything gets bleeped/censored. Just like Dawn of the Dead (1978) never on tv in general except on the retro 70’s, 80’s 90’s 2000’s channels. Same with Halloween 2, its back this year but will be heavily edited, I actually have it save on my PVR from the 80’s channel, uncensored and raw, mainly the hospital employee lounge scene where Bud is smoking a joint and talks about Julie being “Full of shit” lol, that few minutes is the best, but AMC will knock it all down and if you have never seen the movie you would be wondering WTF just happened. Anyway, hopefully we get some good ones coming out!!!

Please play a more diverse selection of movies this year, we need more slashers! I feel as though people look forward to Fear Fest in hopes to see classic horror/halloween movies that aren’t necessarily on streaming services.
