AMC FearFest

4.5/5 - (605 votes)

What is FearFest? In 1997, the AMC network launched Monsterfest, a popular week-long marathon of horror movies and thrillers that aired in late October. On September 26, 2008, AMC announced the launch of a new horror-themed movie marathon for its October schedule called “Fearfest” which replaced Monsterfest.  Fear Fest typically runs from mid-October every year until Halloween (often the day after too) and in recent years has run throughout the entire month of October. In 2023 AMC ran a “Kickoff to FearFest” that began on September 25th.

  • every year no variety, I especially hate a full day of Halloween, Final Destination, Fred Kruger Jason and Worst of all Saw! So many horror movies your programmer needs to step outta the box! Also wouldn’t hurt to add older classics that young people never saw it might enlighten them lol!

totally agree with pablo’s post, and others. HALLOWEEN series is great, but wayyyy overdone again. where’s the original NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET? there are so many other great movies that are never shown. TCM has great ones too, (MARK OF THE VAMPIRE, THE BAT, PLAN 9), but certainly not enough. add the CANDYMAN series, and thanks for adding DON’T BE AFRAID OF THE DARK, and SHUTTER! what about CHUCKY / CHILD’S PLAY? those were great too…..and don’t forget THE OMEN series, and THE FOG, I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER. certainly leave out ‘the walking dead’ for the month – it’s on at other times constantly! commenting on other posts here – the 50’s movies (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_science_fiction_films_of_the_1950s), and the 60’s movies (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_science_fiction_films_of_the_1960s) were incredible (campy but good to watch), with stars that were just stating out! (like Clint Eastwood’s uncredited minor role as a jet squadron leader in 1955’s TARANTULA! , and his brief, uncredited role that same year in THE CREATURE as a lab assistant. those are find to spot too!

a lot of good movies and a lot of movies I never heard of or cared to watch lol. as much as I loved the Halloween movies they are playing them way too much on fearless almost as if they are just fillers to the whole month schedule. Where are the Nightmare on Elm Street movies and they should have more of the rest of the Friday the 13th movies on also than just the original being on there. This lineup is a little better than last year’s. I hope the rest of the schedule has more good movies.

There should be more Steven King movies for fear fest instead of the same ones that get played every year

Please give us more variety this year. Add a lot of old and classic horror (I.E universal monster movies, the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, etc.) and you can’t beat the classics. That’s why I watch fear fest. You can learn a thing or two from Svengoolie, AMC Fear Fest.

I look forward to Fearfest every year on AMC, but I wish they would play more variety of horror flicks. There are so many great horror movies out there you don’t see shown during October.
