AMC FearFest

4.5/5 - (605 votes)

What is FearFest? In 1997, the AMC network launched Monsterfest, a popular week-long marathon of horror movies and thrillers that aired in late October. On September 26, 2008, AMC announced the launch of a new horror-themed movie marathon for its October schedule called “Fearfest” which replaced Monsterfest.  Fear Fest typically runs from mid-October every year until Halloween (often the day after too) and in recent years has run throughout the entire month of October. In 2023 AMC ran a “Kickoff to FearFest” that began on September 25th.

    • This year marks the 25th anniversary of Monster/ fearfest for Amc. I hope they do it big this year and take something from each year that made Fearfest what it is today. I would love to see the classic universal monsters, along Hammer movies. Then have a slasher week with Michael, Jason, Freddy, Chucky, and Ghostface. The Omen trilogy, also The Conjuring, Final destination movies and Stephen King movies.

  • I so agree. Last year the schedule was disappointing and they only showed The Excorsist once and they didn’t even show The Conjuring or The Conjuring 2 but I guess they didn’t have the rights show them or the other horror classics like they did for 2021. I was really expecting to see those films but they didn’t .

  • Once again fearfest this year is a huge disappointment.
Playing the same movies over and over. The movies aren’t even classics there garbage from the worst era of horror 2000-2009. What happened to all the classics?
Fearfest is definitely not the way it used to be in the 1990’s or early 2000’s. How many times are they going to play the halloween franchise movies over and over or the 2009 friday the 13th over and over or the 2009 crazies over and over? I could go on asking how many times your going to play the same movies but this post would be ridiculously long. why are they playing the walking dead every night after midnight taking up all the late night hours trying to pass it off as fearfest when it’s a original amc show that they have to play anyway? They are playing some classics every once in awhile but at times that are ridiculous. Who wants to see Damien omen 2 (the best of the omens) at 5:45 in the morning?
Come On!!!!!!! By the way let’s play Damien one time the whole month but play the final destinations movies 101 times. Fearfest has turned boring. They did go back to playing fearfest the whole month this year and last year but we all know that’s because of covid19 and people being home more. They just had slasher weekend unfortunately it was the same movies they played all month long. Where are all the 80’s classic slasher movies? I am sure there are people who are loving fearfest but the true blue old school horror fans are very disappointed. Hopefully in the future AMC will accommodate everybody and not just the Newbies.
    Happy Halloween to all……

  • Just looked at the line up for Halloween Weekend.
Is this a joke?!?! The entire weekend filled with all Halloween franchise Movies?! This is ridiculous. How many times is AMC going to play these Movies?! They already played them to death all month long. They could have filled the Weekend with some good Horror Classics and a couple Halloween movies. Instead we get Halloween all Weekend! WTF! If that’s not bad enough they are playing repeats of FTWD on Halloween Night starting at 8pm WTF!!!! That is a bunch of BullS##t!!! Another thing that is ridiculous is that They did not play Cujo all Month long not even during the Stephen King Marathon, but there playing it Nov 1st?! WTF!!!!! Why is there a Jaws Marathon on Nov 1st at 8pm when they didn’t even play any Jaws Movies the entire Fearfest Month?!?! Fearfest is really getting more and more ridiculous year after year.

You know AMC marathons Halloween movies every year on Halloween day, right? But you’re right, this lineup is a joke. They not only excluded part 6: The Curse Of Michael Myers, the ordering of the movies is laughable. They really showed Rob Zombie’s Halloween 2 DIRECTLY BEFORE SHOWING Rob Zombie’s Halloween last night. HA!

  • SAME OLD SAME OLD ....

Very, very disappointed at the films being shown again this year. Same ones every year that we have all seen too many times. There are so many great horror films that are never shown on any channels. But I do at least give AMC one positive, they are at least showing horror movies. Most of their competitors are not even showing horror films at this time of the year. Come on television programmers, lets show your subscribers you are at least trying to get someone to watch!

    • I I so agree they show the same ones repeated if you want to show them fine show them once and maybe repeat them towards the end of it where Halloween comes but show some new scary movies you know like either show The conjuring show something like they used to show wrong turn now you don’t even see them anymore all you see is Halloween and Friday the 13th and Chucky like I want to see some old ones some scary ones like hills have eyes too even when they like The walking Dead yeah that’s awesome but show from season 1 all the way to the end especially when this is coming to be the last season they don’t even do that anymore like this channel has gotten so awful

Amy, they can only show movies to which they have permission to show. If they only showed those they can once then Fear Fest would be short lived. That is why the repeat over and over, I agree it would be great to be able to show everything, but they cannot.

  • I love this entire month of movies ! I also think that scream and all of the walking dead is played way too much ! I think you could add some other older movies that are better than seeing scream 100X – however i will still watch them all because I love these types of movies.

Halloween III should be shown Halloween night at 7pm so that it ends at 9pm right when “the big giveaway” starts. At least one primetime viewing would be nice. This is a cult classic that horror fans watch every year.
