AMC FearFest

4.5/5 - (638 votes)

What is FearFest? In 1997, the AMC network launched Monsterfest, a popular week-long marathon of horror movies and thrillers that aired in late October. On September 26, 2008, AMC announced the launch of a new horror-themed movie marathon for its October schedule called “Fearfest” which replaced Monsterfest.  Fear Fest typically runs from mid-October every year until Halloween (often the day after too) and in recent years has run throughout the entire month of October. In 2023 AMC ran a “Kickoff to FearFest” that began on September 25th.

I don’t know if this has already been posted, but Fubo TV no longer has AMC. You may want to update your article.

Can’t wait to read everyone’s complaints with the line up as if they understand licensing agreements.

    • Right!!! Those are the same people that complained about Monster/ Fearfest only being for a week 15years ago. I say if you don’t like the schedule make your own monster fest schedule with the movies you like. There are too many options in today’s world to sit around and complain about Fearfest but I appreciate it. Maybe because I grew in the 80’s/90’s when networks like Usa, Tnt, and Sci-fi only aired scary movies marathons the weekend before Halloween so that’s all we got. We didn’t complain about it, we enjoyed and loved it those horror marathons

You’re totally correct, they can’t show something they don’t have the rights to show. They can but they will get the pants sued off them. I think some people just state their frustrations or disappointment.

AMC introduced me to Micheal myers the boogeyman growing up on cable and I wanted to say I am excited for 2023 Fear Fest. AMC do it like your cousin channel IFC where gore and bad words are not censored. I know people love to stream but for me it’s more fun watching it on Cable like it’s year 2000

I don’t think they can put Scream movies on fearfest since paramount has rights to the films unfortunately Streaming messed up tv channels to put whatever they want or they can be sued I’m with you on the micheal myers movies but peacock has rights to Halloween 2 and 3 when I was a teenager AMC played it all

I would liked to have seen the following movies for greater variety:

    Omen I & II
    The Hearse
    Hell Night
    Phantasm
    Dracula (1979)
    Salem’s Lot
    Psycho
    Fade to Black
    V, miniseries
    My Bloody Valentine (1981)
    Blacula
    House of Dark Shadows
    The Fog (1981)
    Burnt offerings
    The Ninth Gate

So many good horror movies from years back that are repeatedly ignored by AMC. Some were shown during Monsterfest, but no longer televised. Licensing issue ?

Huge AMC/fearfest fan !!!!great idea!! showing all the old classic from the past that no longer play on tv. Great memories from growing up and being terrified.

Next year, you need to change the movie line up a bit. You’re showing so many of the same Halloween and Friday The 13th movies over and over. Some variety would be appreciated!

    • Amc fear fest will probably get cancelled for next year anyway. No one watches cut movies with commercials. There are so many streaming apps that have these movies uncut commercial free they should just cancel it. No one watches AMC anymore. Unless they show the uncut version with very limited commercials like maybe 2 they can compete but no one watches AMC anymore.

Lets hope they don’t cancel fear fest !! AMC stays on my tv the whole run of fear fest. Nothing better than my tv station staying on Fear Fest!

There is nothing better than Friday the 13th and Halloween those are iconic they will always have to be in the rotation and even being played more than once.

  • Should Carrie once on Oct. 1, then never again for the rest of the month, yet Final Destination gets played over and over and over again. Carrie is a genuine horror film, why not play it a few more times? It’s like AMC purposely tries to mess up the line-up.

For the sake of this community, I hope next year they play 31 straight days of Halloween 5. Maybe sprinkle in a Walking Dead episode unannounced. Nothing would give me more pleasure than watching the freakout here.
