AMC FearFest

4.5/5 - (638 votes)

What is FearFest? In 1997, the AMC network launched Monsterfest, a popular week-long marathon of horror movies and thrillers that aired in late October. On September 26, 2008, AMC announced the launch of a new horror-themed movie marathon for its October schedule called “Fearfest” which replaced Monsterfest.  Fear Fest typically runs from mid-October every year until Halloween (often the day after too) and in recent years has run throughout the entire month of October. In 2023 AMC ran a “Kickoff to FearFest” that began on September 25th.

Please show real classic horror movies and not the Walking Dead. We can all see Walking Dead via On Demand. Plus, that’s NOT a horror show. There are so many great scary and horror movies that can be shown – Stephen King movies, original Fun House. Motel Hell, the Hills Have Eyes, the Gate, Trick or Treat, Silent Night Deadly Night, Poltergeist, etc…

Why wait until October is half over before starting Fearfest? Real horror movie fans & just plain Halloween lovers are ready to get in the theme of things at the very latest October 1st!! No more unscary movies!! We need the classics!! Zombie tv shows should not be included- horror movies only!! Come on AMC!!

    • I agree 100%. About the past 5 years all I would see on fear fest was Thinner , Tremors, Cujo and the Omen all on repeat and then one day we would get Carpenters Halloweens. This year they are bringing out better movies than the years past just because of the 20th anniversary but I’m sure it will go back to Thinner on repeat 24/7.

They need to have a day of George A. Romero movies. I never seen the original Dawn of the Dead on fear fest. They need to Air his movies from Night of the living dead, Dawn of the Dead, Day of the Dead, Land of the Dead, and Diary of the Dead. Halloween shouldn’t be called halloween, but Hallowromero. I know he was the host of AMC fear fest a couple years ago, but you need to put his movies into the equation. It’s like having turkey on Thanksgiving, you need Romero for fear fest and halloween every year.

    Thanks Joshua VanGraafeiland

I agree. I love Romero, but I am a huge fan of movies based off H.P. Lovecraft stories too! I wish AMC would not focus as much on Michael Myers and Jason Voorhis. They should have a huge zombie movie marathon. The Reanimator, Night of The Living Dead, Day of The Dead, Dawn of The Dead, The Dead Hate The Living, Cadaver Christmas. Other suggestions-H.P. Lovecraft’s From Beyond, and Dagon. Maybe even have a vampire movie marathon day and a Warewolf marathon. AMC should throw in some movies by Lucio Fulchi too!

They should not be showing a small clip of Dawn of the Dead (1978) if they are not showing it for its false advertising

I can’t believe the networks are starting the movies/shows SO late for 2016. I want them to start October 1st! Even Disney seems to be starting on Oct. 7th.

    • Ditto! I want to see all the original stuff, no remakes, and I expect it all to start Oct 1.
