AMC FearFest

4.5/5 - (638 votes)

What is FearFest? In 1997, the AMC network launched Monsterfest, a popular week-long marathon of horror movies and thrillers that aired in late October. On September 26, 2008, AMC announced the launch of a new horror-themed movie marathon for its October schedule called “Fearfest” which replaced Monsterfest.  Fear Fest typically runs from mid-October every year until Halloween (often the day after too) and in recent years has run throughout the entire month of October. In 2023 AMC ran a “Kickoff to FearFest” that began on September 25th.

Happy Fear Fest Season! The original and best Horror Marathon has begun! My older children and my youngest can’t believe when I tell them back in the Monster Fest days (the 90s) we had to rough it with only a week of all this fun. I do miss the Hammer movies, the older Dracula, and Universal Monsters movies we used to get. But things change and you just have to adapt. Hard to believe all that started 27 years ago, oh how time flies! Thank you AMC for this yearly celebration of the Halloween season and all the awesome horror flicks that go with it!

While I love current horror as listed, be nice to see one 24 hr set aside for the old B & W Universal classics…Dracula, The Wolfman, The Mummy, Frankenstein….

AMC doesn’t have the rights to the universal classic monster movies that’s why they don’t show them.
